Rainy Day Rhino Shenanigans

Sometimes it’s worth just hanging with these two, even though it looks like they have hunkered down for a marathon nap protected from this drizzly day…. You just never know when things could change….

Young rhino, just like young children, are not always down for marathon naps ( even on a Sunday ) and then there’s the business of nourishment….which three month old rhino calf wouldn’t want some of moms warm and nourishing milkies on such a rainy day…..
Three month old rhino calf Bembi in search of some nourishment – mom not quite ready to have her Sunday nap interrupted, ignores Bembi’s squealing pleas….
” Pleeeease mom, I’m cold and wet here….”
Mom was having none of it…. nor ready to give up her warm spot to humour her little terror 🙂
Have you ever seen a tiny rhino tyke have a whole little temper tantrum ? With sound bites to match 🙂
For a second there I thought Bonnie was going to go up and over, so great was her frustration at moms resistance to budge …
FINALLY Bonnies desperate moves bore results….reluctant and still half asleep…mom slowly starts getting to her feet…
Difficult to disengage when you’re atop a two ton mom ! 🙂
Little fattie having had her fill, soon joined her still half asleep mom for the rest of their lazy, rainy day marathon nap …. THIS, is why I live here 🙂

While in Kenya on a vacation, we witnessed a baby that was only 24 hours old with his mother. I swear, when I looked at the size of his feet, I thought they were way too big!! Funny and beautiful at the same time. It hurts me deeply to see these incredible animals slaughtered for such a ridiculous reason. When will these rich people wise up. It seems they won’t until the extinction is here. How very sad. Keep making these beautiful sets of photos for us who can’t enjoy it every day from far away. JESS

Sorry, Ayesha, do you have another way to contact you at all? Email address? 🙂
I work for a Press agency in the UK, based in Liverpool. We gather content for the national newspapers here and I think these images are just perfect! 🙂
